Some details about Your Career Homecoming, including whether it’s right for you.
Your Career Homecoming is a boutique career change program for high-performers who want a career with meaning, money, and joy. Founded by Laura Simms in 2011, the program uses a proprietary approach called The WHOLE Method — a holistic career change strategy that goes deeper than assessments and personality tests.
Rather than telling you to “follow your passion,” we help you start with purpose. We work with you to reconnect to who you are, what you have to offer, and what you’re worthy of in return. From that place of quiet confidence, you’ll choose a career that aligns with the person you want to be and the life you want to build, income included.
Most career coaching follows a predictable formula: take an assessment, get a list of careers that “match,” pick one, and go. That approach works for some people, but it's most appropriate for first jobs or survival jobs. If you’re a high-performer, you've outgrown those starter resources because your career decision holds more complexity.
Our process designed for specifically for professionals who earn well but feel misaligned, and who need more than a resume refresh; they need to redesign how they work so they can actually live the life they're earning.
Your Career Homecoming is different in several important ways. First, we don’t start with assessments. We start with purpose: your unique relationship to contribution, service, and legacy. Second, this isn’t a one-size-fits-all curriculum. The program is personal and guided, with Laura’s direct involvement. Third, we address the whole person, not just the resume. Career change isn’t just about finding a new job. It’s about becoming the person who can thrive in that job. And finally, we don’t just help you choose a career. We help you build the mindset, skills, and self-leadership to succeed in it.
When the business is bigger than just the founder, sometime clients pay the price. Not here. We have an outstanding team to help support you, but Laura continues to coach each client directly.
Your Career Homecoming is an investment, and it’s designed to be. This isn’t a mass-market online course with thousands of students. It’s a boutique, high-touch program with Laura’s personal involvement. The investment reflects the depth of the curriculum, the caliber of support, and the life-changing results our clients consistently achieve.
Our clients understand that their career is one of the most valuable financial assets they have, and one of the most powerful forces shaping the quality of their daily life. They want to get it right, but they can't afford to get it wrong.
With our support:
1. You choose your Homecoming Career: a fulfilling career with meaning, money, and joy
2. You create a transition plan to safely get there
3. You have the confidence in your choice and self to follow through
We know most folks expect a transactional, “here’s the price, take it or leave it” exchange, but we take a more relational approach.
There are a couple different pricing and payment options, and since enrollment is by invitation only we wait until we're both sure this is a good partnership before starting that conversation. Also, as part of our equity-centered practice we want the ability to learn each person's unique financial situation to try to create additional paths forward if the standard ones don't work.
If you explore working with us, we will go into much more detail about the program, process, and payment options. Some things we’re happy to share online, and some things we want to explore in relationship with you. To kick things off, you can start with our free training.
That's for you and for us.
For you: Because career change for high-performers can be a high-stakes endeavor, we only want to work with people we're certain we can help get results. It also means you'll be in a curated community, not lumped in with anyone with a credit card and impulse to buy.
For us: One of the perks of working for yourself is the opportunity to choose who you work with. Part of what makes our work meaningful is working with clients who inspire us.
Your Career Homecoming is designed for high-performers who have the drive, capability, and ambition to create meaningful change, but who haven’t been able to get clear on what that change should look like. Our clients are typically professionals who are successful on paper but unfulfilled underneath, career changers who’ve tried therapy, coaching, or self-help without breakthrough results, people who know they’re capable of more but can’t see the path forward, and individuals who want a career that aligns with their values, supports their financial goals, and complements the life they want to build.
Fundamentally: they are high-agency people with a track record of success who are ready to use their gifts in a more fulfilling way.
Not a problem. We work with people who have zero ideas and those who have too many ideas to choose between; people who have no clue and folks who are 95% sure but want to be 100% confident before they commit time and money to a new path. The process we use is the same, and our clients are able to get the clarity and confidence they need, regardless of their starting uncertainty.
Career change takes commitment. If you're not sure yet, that's ok. But don't hire us or anyone until know you're ready to find your path forward. No amount of strategy can overcome a lukewarm commitment, so that's your first step.
Some resources I'd recommend to help you discern if a career change is right for you:
1. The Unmute Yourself guide will help you connect with your own voice and explore if a change is needed.
2. It really helps to get "in the room" with people who have made a change like the one you're considering. You pick up on how they knew they needed a change, what they prioritize, and how they make decisions. Our client interview are a fantastic resource for this.
That's typical for our clients and not an indication that our process won't work for you. You can read the nerdy essay: Why It's So Damn Hard to Choose the Right Career to learn why those resources you've tried don't reliable yield results.
Your Career Homecoming is an 8 week program.
You should plan to dedicate approximately an hour a day to the program, including curriculum work and coaching sessions. The program is designed for working professionals, so it’s built to fit alongside your current job and life.
